Diesel is a wobbler. If you don't know what that is, check out his video! It means he has cerebellar hypoplasia, a neurological disorder that makes him unbalanced, or wobbly. So far he has not been able to get up on furniture or up and down stairs. His new home will need to make some accomadations for him. He needs a high-sided litter box with a low opening in the front. That will allow him to get in and out yet still keep the litter inside where it belongs. He likes low boxes too, but he sure likes to fling his litter around! If you have steps, they will need to be blocked off so he can't fall down them. He may learn to handle stairs with time and patience, but right now he just stays away from them. Diesel is also special because he has hyperesthesia. Hyperestheisa is another disirder that may be partly neurological. When he starts biting at his back he doesn't really watch where he's biting. For that reason, he cannot be placed with children at this time. Although he would not mind kids, we can't risk that he could bite a child by accident when trying to bite at his own back. Having said all that, he is a wonderful cat! He loves everyone and everything, nothing phases him, and he greets all new cats as friends. He's an awesome boy.
